Colts’ T.J. Carrie could be activated for Week 10

The Colts could activate CB T.J. Carrie for the Week 10 matchup against the Jaguars.

Indianapolis Colts cornerback T.J. Carrie could be activated from the injured reserve list for the Week 10 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Carrie has been on the injured reserve list since suffering a knee injury in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans and if he’s activated for the game against the Jaguars, it would likely include a pitch count.

“He’s in play. We’ll see how he responds. I think there’s a chance he could be up. I’m hopeful he’ll be up. He got through the last two days pretty good. To my eye, he did well today and we’ll just see how he responds tomorrow, but I’m optimistic that he would be up,” said head coach Frank Reich. “If he is, we might put him on some kind of a pitch count if he’s up.”

The Colts have some injuries in the secondary that will hinder the defense. They are without both of their starting safeties and cornerback Xavier Rhodes has been ruled out with a calf injury.

One of the questions that will surround Carrie is where he would play. He’s initially a cornerback but he saw reps at safety during training camp. Given the need the Colts have at both safety spots, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to rotate him in.

That said, Reich mentioned Carrie would most likely stick at cornerback.

“Yeah, he does have that versatility. For right now for us, he’s primarily corner first outside and he also plays nickel,” Reich said. “We can move him around depending on the combination we want on the field. We can play him inside, Kenny (Moore II) outside, Kenny inside, him outside and then emergency, he can play safety. He’s such a smart, savvy player. That gives us good versatility.”

Activating Carrie would be a nice addition of depth to the secondary so it will be interesting to see if any move is made to activate him.
