Colts decide against making moves.

As expected, the Indianapolis Colts decided against making any moves at the NFL trade deadline, which expired at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Though general manager Chris Ballard has said they “always have their lines in the water,” he has yet to make a deal at the trade deadline since his tenure began in 2017.

There were potentially a few options the Colts could have explored. Adding a wide receiver may not have been a horrible idea, but none of the options were without much risk. There were also some thoughts on adding a player like edge rusher Ryan Kerrigan, but nothing came to pass.

The Colts haven’t been a team afraid to make deals and with their window to win now seemingly open, making a trade at the deadline wasn’t an idea that could be dismissed out of hand.

However, the deadline came and went without the Colts making a move as expected, and they will now shift their focus on stopping Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.
