The Indianapolis Colts found their way to a 21-18 comeback win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium to kick off the preseason.
Though the snap counts don’t hold as much wight during the preseason, there are some takeaways we can have from the numbers over the course of the next month before the regular season arrives.
Here’s a look at the snap counts for the Colts on Sunday:
Offense
Analysis
- QBs Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger played the first and second halves, respectively. They wound up seeing the exact same number of plays.
- WR Parris Campbell got some action to begin the game. He saw one target on 10 snaps, which resulted in a 37-yard reception on a slot fade.
- OTs Will Holden and Carter O’Donnell led the way among all players while Sam Tevi was right behind them.
Defense & Special Teams
Analysis
- DE Ben Banogu saw a lot of playing time at around 40% of the snaps.
- LB Malik Jefferson led the entire defense while second-year cornerback Isaiah Rodgers played the most snaps in the secondary.
- CB Marvell Tell III saw plenty of action in his first game back after opting out the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns.
- K Eddy Pineiro and Rodrigo Blankenship each converted their only field-goal attempts.
