The Indianapolis Colts signed safety Julian Blackmon to a four-year rookie contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Blackmon was the last of the Colts’ draft picks to sign his rookie deal, but Indy officially now has their entire draft class under contract through the 2023 season.
Blackmon was a third-round pick with the Colts out of Utah. His positional versatility, fluid movements and high upside intrigued them enough to take him on Day 2 despite the fact that he tore his ACL in December.
That injury will keep Blackmon out until at least September, and the Colts aren’t expecting him to make an impact until at least October. Even then he is likely to be working in a rotation behind Malik Hooker and Khari Willis.
Regardless, Blackmon is now under contract and the Colts can focus on preparing for training camp now that all of their draft picks have signed rookie deals.
