The Indianapolis Colts signed linebacker Malik Jefferson, the team announced Wednesday.
Jefferson, 24, was a third-round pick (No. 78 overall) with the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL draft. He has since spent time with the Cleveland Browns (2019) and Los Angeles Chargers (2019-2020). He also spent a short stint on the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad.
In 34 career games (no starts), Jefferson has recorded 16 tackles (nine solo). He recorded five special teams tackles with the Chargers in 2020.
The Colts allowed Anthony Walker Jr. to sign with the Browns in free agency and will be looking at Darius Leonard and Bobby Okereke as the starting duo.
Jefferson could be competing for a depth role in the linebacker room with E.J. Speed, Jordan Glasgow, Skai Moore, Zaire Franklin and Matthew Adams.
