Colts sign 14 players to futures contracts for 2025 season

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve signed 14 players to reserve/futures contracts for the 2025 season.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have signed 14 players to reserve/futures contracts for the 2025 season.

So, what is a reserve/futures contract?

These reserves/futures deals are given to players who are not on the 53-man roster and prevents those players from negotiating and signing with another team.

Teams can go outside of the organization to sign players who are not currently tied to a team in any capacity, but most often, it will be practice squad players from the previous season that will be signed to these types of deals.

With teams who have missed the playoffs now turn their focus to the offseason, these additions in January help build out the 90-man roster for OTAs, minicamp, and training camp.

Below is who the Colts signed to those reserve/futures deals. All these players were on the 2024 practice squad:

  • RB Salvon Ahmed
  • LB Austin Ajiake
  • LB Liam Anderson
  • QB Jason Bean
  • S Marcel Dabo
  • CB Alex Johnson
  • G Atonio Mafi
  • TE Sean McKeon
  • WR D.J. Montgomery
  • DE Durrell Nchami
  • TE Albert Okwuegbunam Jr.
  • DT Pheldarius Payne
  • G Josh Sills
  • WR Laquon Treadwell

In addition to these roster moves, the Colts also announced that they signed linebacker Segun Olubi and running back Tyler Goodson to one-year extensions for the 2025 season as well.
