Colts’ Shaquille Leonard exits after nasty collision with teammate

Colts LB Shaquille Leonard is being evaluated for a head injury.

Update: Leonard has been ruled out for the rest of the game with a concussion.

Making his season debut after offseason back surgery, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard exited the game Sunday halfway through the second quarter after a nasty collision with linebacker Zaire Franklin.

On a play in the second quarter, Leonard and Franklin collided trying to tackle Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chig Okonkwo at the goal line. As both linebackers missed the tackle, Franklin’s helmet went straight into Leonard’s jaw.

While Leonard is being evaluated for a head injury, he was able to walk off the field into the locker room under his own power.

With this being his first game back, Leonard was on a pitch count of sorts. We’ll update this post with any change to his status for the game.
