Colts Shane Steichen on Gus Bradley’s future: “No decision” yet

Colts HC Shane Steichen met with reporters on Monday and said a decision about Gus Bradley’s future has not yet been made.

Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen will be back for the 2025 season, but what about Colts’ defensive coordinator Gus Bradley?

When speaking with reporters on Monday morning following the Colts’ season finale win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Steichen was asked about Bradley’s future and was non-committal either way.

“There’s no decision,” Steichen said about Gus Bradley and the coaching staff. That will all be part of the evaluation process.

This, of course, doesn’t mean that a move won’t be made, but whatever process the Colts first want to go through before arriving at a conclusion will have to take place first.

The Colts defense this season was plagued by missed tackles and explosive plays surrendered both on the ground and through the air. Those elements were ultimately the defense’s undoing in Week 17 against the Giants, where they gave up 38 points to the worst offense in football.

On the year, the Colts’ defense ranked 24th in points per game, 28th in yards per pass attempt allowed and 26th in rushing yards per game this season.

This also isn’t the first year under Bradley where the defensive production hasn’t been very good. During the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the Colts finished those seasons ranked 28th in scoring defense.
