Colts rookie CB Julius Brents makes training camp debut

Julius Brents is making his training camp debut Saturday.

Indianapolis Colts rookie cornerback Julius Brents took the practice field Saturday evening for the first time since training camp commenced in late July.

In fact, Saturday marks the first time Brents has been on the field since the Colts used the No. 44 overall pick on him in the 2023 NFL draft. Brents missed the spring workouts after undergoing wrist surgery and then recently arrived to camp with a hamstring injury.

The Colts have major question marks in the cornerback room considering the wild offseason regarding the position. Brents is expected to be a Week 1 starter on the boundary for Gus Bradley’s defense.

Of course, the rookie will have to prove he’s ready to take on a starting role, but his talent and fit within the scheme should give him a strong chance to do so.

At any rate, it’s encouraging for the defense to see the highly-touted rookie begin practice, and hopefully it marks the beginning of an impactful campaign.
