The Indianapolis Colts reportedly worked out three players on Monday. Here’s what you need to know.

The Indianapolis Colts reportedly worked out three players on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston. The group was headlined by cornerback CJ Henderson.

Workouts on Mondays and Tuesdays are extremely common around the NFL. In some instances, the workout can result in the player being signed–most likely, to the practice squad. However, teams do also build out emergency big boards as well in the event of an injury and the need to fill a roster spot quickly.

Henderson was the ninth overall pick by Jacksonville in 2020 NFL draft out of Florida. In the early portion of the 2021 season, however, Henderson was traded to Carolina where he played through last year.

A boundary cornerback, Henderson has allowed a completion rate of 70.5 percent on 190 targets at 12.5 yards per catch. He has 11 career pass breakups, three interceptions, and a passer rating when targeted of 113.9. Henderson played 407 defensive snaps for the Panthers in 2023.

The cornerback position for the Colts is one that is already thin. Then during Sunday’s game, Dallis Flowers and Kenny Moore both exited late with injuries. Shane Steichen did not have an update on Moore on Monday.

Also on the reported workout were running backs Isaiah Spiller and Zach Evans. Spiller was a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022. He has 55 career carries, averaging only 2.5 yards per attempt and nine career targets in the passing game.

Evans, meanwhile, was a sixth-round selection by the Los Angeles Rams in 2023. He carried the ball nine times last season for 19 yards.

With Jonathan Taylor, Trey Sermon, and Tyler Goodson on the active roster and Evan Hull on the practice squad, it’s not exactly clear why the Colts are having a few running backs in for workouts. Oftentimes, teams are willing to churn those last few spots on the practice squad in search of upgrades regardless of the position.

As of now, no reported signings by the Colts have been made.
