Colts reportedly make cornerback addition to practice squad

With an opening on the practice squad, the Colts made a reported addition at the cornerback position.

After placing JuJu Brents on injured reserve and then signing Chris Lammons to the 53-man roster, the Indianapolis Colts had an opening on the practice squad that they have now reportedly filled by signing cornerback Kelvin Joseph.

Joseph is a former second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks.

Over his career, Joseph has appeared in 31 games, having made three starts.

A boundary cornerback, Joseph has played 353 total defensive snaps, 21 of which came during the 2023 season. In coverage, he has allowed 21 completions on 35 targets (60%) for 15.0 yards per catch with four pass breakups and he’s been penalized three times.

In his first two seasons, Joseph had been relied up fairly heavily on special teams, playing 520 snaps across five phases during that span.

With the addition of Joseph, the Colts practice squad is at maximum capacity for the time being. David Long Jr., Jaylin Simpson, and Ameer Speed are the other cornerbacks on the practice squad.

Entering the 2024 season, cornerback was already a major question mark for the Colts, and the unknowns around that position group have only grown with Brents now on injured reserve.
