The Indianapolis Colts had a bit of a scare Friday morning when they were informed of several positive COVID-19 tests, but it appears their Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals is on track to be played, the team announced Friday.
After the news broke about the positive tests, the Colts were awaiting confirmation on whether they had an issue to deal with or whether they were false positives.
It appears the latter was the case as the four members of the Colts who had positive test results—one player, three staffers—all tested negative for COVID-19 in the rerun.
Here is the statement from the team:
Earlier this morning, we were informed that four individuals within the organization tested positive for COVID-19. The four positive samples were re-tested and have been confirmed negative. After consultation with the NFL and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allen Sills, the team will open the practice facility this afternoon under the league’s intensive protocol and will continue preparation for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.
All is well. Details shortly. COLTS-BENGALS, 1PM SUNDAY!

So after a bit of a scare on Friday, it appears the Colts will be cleared to play on Sunday against the Bengals without any hiccups. They will get back into the facility on Friday to practice before the weekend hits.
Even though a reschedule of the game wouldn’t have been all that difficult, it is always best that they can go with what was originally planned.
This should still be closely monitored, especially when Saturday’s test results come back, but it appears the Colts are good to go after getting their biggest COVID-19 scare of the season thus far.
