The Indianapolis Colts are still awaiting an update on the knee injury to rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger as of Friday night, but head coach Frank Reich didn’t have much positive to say about it.
Following the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions, Reich told the media that the injury didn’t appear to be a mild one from his vantage point.

It’s best not to jump to conclusions but this will certainly be a storyline to watch. Ehlinger relieved Jacob Eason late in the second quarter for the two-minute drill, expecting to see the rest of the snaps on Friday night.
Instead, the rookie quarterback attempted just three passes while completing all three for 63 yards. Most of it came on a 60-yard bomb to wide receiver Dezmon Patmon.
Hopefully, Reich and the Colts will at least have a clearer picture when it comes to Ehlinger’s injury if/when he addresses the media on Saturday.
Regardless, Reich’s words following the game suggest this is something worthy of monitoring.
