The Indianapolis Colts, along with the rest of the NFL, are gearing up for the expected start of training camp on July 28, but many players have voiced their concerns about the league’s safety and health protocols amid COVID-19.
As sports are just beginning to get back into the world, the league has pushed off discussing in depth the protocols necessary to keep the players in the safest position possible with the coronavirus still very present.
Several big names voiced their concerns on Twitter while using the hashtag “WeWantToPlay” in hopes the league will hear their voices.
The @NFL needs to do their part for players saftey if there’s going to be a chance of us playing football this year. #WeWanttoPlay

If the @NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020. It’s that simple. #WeWantToPlay

There won’t be an @NFL season if we don’t put players health and safety first. Who’s playing the games if we’re all sick? #WeWanttoPlay

There are also some big names who have voiced their concerns throughout the league.
Why isn’t the NFL listening to the recommendation from their own joint committee? If we want to have a full season it will have to look different. @NFL make the necessary changes. #WeWantToPlay

Once again in the interest of keeping everyone (players & fans) as informed as possible, here is an updated list of what we as players know and don’t know as the first group gets set to report to training camp tomorrow.#WeWantToPlay pic.twitter.com/xQcjs33zgM

I am concerned.
My wife is pregnant.@NFL Training camp is about to start..And there’s still No Clear Plan on Player Health & Family Safety. 🤷🏾
We want to play football but we also want to protect our loved ones. #WeWantToPlay

We need Football! We need sports! We need hope! The NFL’s unwillingness to follow the recommendations of their own medical experts will prevent that. If the NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020. It’s that simple. Get it done @NFL

Getting ready to report this week hoping the @NFL will come to agreement with the safe and right protocols so we can feel protected playing the sport we love #WeWantToPlay

It will be interesting to see what comes of this, but the players are making their voices heard about their concerns regarding the protocols regardless.
