Colts officially eliminated from playoff contention

The Colts have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Indianapolis Colts have officially been eliminated from 2021 playoff contention.

All they had to do was defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. However, they laid an egg by losing 26-11 at TIAA Bank Field. Even after that, they had a chance to make it into the playoffs.

However, they needed a lot of help. Some of that included a Ravens win over the Steelers. That game went into overtime only for the Steelers to win on a field goal.

With that game now over and resulting in a Steelers win, the Colts are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

In a shocking twist, the Colts end their season on a gloomy note. They started 1-4 and then went on a ridiculous run of winning 8-of-10 games. Then, with two chances to secure a playoff berth, the Colts folded in both contests despite being large favorites leading up to each game.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts the offseason. It was clear that the team wasn’t ready to compete for a long run in the postseason.

Quarterback Carson Wentz flopped when the offense needed him most during the home stretch of the season and the defense crumbled during the final two games when the Colts could have secured a playoff berth.

There will be major questions for the Colts to answer this offseason and they’ll have plenty of time to think about it while they watch the playoffs from their couches.
