Colts moving on from DL coach Brian Baker

The Colts will be moving on from DL coach Brian Baker.

The Indianapolis Colts will be moving on from defensive line coach Brian Baker, per Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

While head coach Frank Reich and general manager Chris Ballard are still in their spots, it was expected that some changes would be made to the coaching staff.

Baker has been with the Colts since joining the staff in 2018 but given the lack of production and development along the defensive line, the team is moving on.

There is a strong possibility that Baker is just the first domino to fall. Owner Jim Irsay has been preaching change ever since the embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18 kicked the Colts out of playoff contention.

The issues with the pass rush come from the edge position mostly and the fact that the Colts haven’t been able to truly develop a difference-making edge rusher.

Second-round picks Kemoko Turay and Ben Banogu have been nothing more than rotational pieces while there is some hope for Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo in the future.

It will be interesting to see who the Colts will bring in to replace Baker as they hope to get the pass rush moving in the right direction.
