Colts’ Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce return to practice

Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce are expected to practice Wednesday.

Indianapolis Colts wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. (quad) and Alec Pierce (concussion) both returned to practice Wednesday as the team prepares for the Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Colts offense sorely missed Pittman Jr., who continues to take an alpha-sized share of the passing attack. It’s no guarantee that Pittman Jr. will be able to play against the Chiefs, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s practicing to begin the week—even if it’s in a limited fashion.

Pierce has yet to pass through the league’s concussion protocol, which is the

reason he was held out in Week 2. However, starting the week by logging a practice also is an encouraging sign that he’ll be ready to go.

Having both players back in the offense will be a massive upgrade for the Colts after the wide receiver room posted just 102 yards in Week 2. They’ll need everyone they can get on the field in order to keep up with the Chiefs.
