Colts’ Matt Gay named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Matt Gay was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Indianapolis Colts kicker Matt Gay was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his historic performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

Gay made history as the only NFL player ever to convert four field-goal attempts of 50 or more yards in a single game. His five converted field goals helped the Colts upset the Ravens in a 22-19 victory at M&T Bank Stadium.

Gay also became the fifth kicker in NFL history to convert a game-tying field goal of 50-plus yards in the final two minutes of regulation before converting a game-winner of 50-plus yards during overtime.

Gay is a perfect 6-for-6 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra-point attempts through the first three games this season, and it’s clear the Colts have an extra weapon on offense.
