Following their 34-17 win at Nissan Stadium on Thursday night, the Indianapolis Colts (6-3) hold the tiebreaker over the Tennessee Titans (6-3) for the lead in the AFC South.
The standings are far from complete with seven games still remaining for both teams, but the win in prime time could go a long way when the dust settles in the AFC playoff race.
Because the Colts hold the head-to-head tiebreaker, they currently have the edge over the Titans. This could change with a loss in Week 12 when the Colts host their division rivals but as it stands now, Indy is sitting atop the AFC South.
There is still a long way to go before the playoff picture becomes clear. The Colts still have tough matchups against the Green Bay Packers, Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers to name a few. There are even some potential trap games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans.
But the Colts proved themselves on the national stage Thursday night. They dominated the Titans in the second half of the game, outscoring them 21-0. It was a huge bounce-back win after dropping the home matchup against the Ravens just four days prior.
Regardless, the Colts now have a slight edge over the Titans in the division. When it comes to the seeding in the AFC playoff race, that could hold a big role when the season is all said and done.
