Indianapolis Colts safety Julian Blackmon said he received death threats following the team’s 31-25 loss against the Baltimore Ravens in overtime on Monday night.
Every fan has a right to be frustrated when their team loses, especially in the way the Colts did on Monday night. That said, there is no room for this kind of behavior. It’s disgusting, vile and uncalled for. Blackmon isn’t the first athlete to endure this type of hate, and he, unfortunately, won’t be the last.
Blackmon tweeted Tuesday morning about the threats he received and opted to take the high road, which could not have been easy to do.
Gotta realize you’re going to get criticism in this sport. Just how it goes! I just wanna say God Bless you to anyone frustrated to the point where they have to send us death threats over social media for losing! I just want you all to know I’m praying for you!

Blackmon was mostly excellent during the prime-time loss. He laid some big hits throughout the night and forced a crucial fumble on Lamar Jackson at the goal line.
NFL players always seem larger than life but it’s important to remember that they are still human beings playing a game. They aren’t above criticism for their performance on the field, but no human being should receive death threats because of a game.
