Colts’ Jonathan Taylor questionable vs. Titans in Week 5

Jonathan Taylor could make his debut this week.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report ahead of the Week 5 matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Taylor made his return to practice this week immediately as soon as he was eligible to return from the PUP list. The Colts opened the 21-day practice window Wednesday, but it’s unlikely the team will use that entire time frame.

Instead, there’s more than a good chance we see Taylor suit up on Sunday considering he logged full practices all week.

Of course, head coach Shane Steichen played it coy when speaking to the media Friday about whether Taylor will play in Week 5.

“We’ll see,” Steichen said.

The first-year head coach did acknowledge how Taylor look during his first practice with the team in over 290 days.

Shoot, he looked good. Conditioning wise he looked good. Again, it’s been a while since he’s been out there but he looked good the last couple days and we’ll make that decision when the game comes around,” Steichen said.

If Taylor is ready to go, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to hold him out. Even if his conditioning isn’t fully where it needs to be, the Colts can split the backfield between him and Zack Moss, who has been doing a fine job as the replacement.

We’ll likely know what the decision is on Saturday when the Colts make their roster moves ahead of the divisional game because the Colts would need to officially activate him from the PUP list.

But at this point, it would be more shocking if Taylor didn’t suit up this week.
