The Indianapolis Colts hosted former Indiana State linebacker Jonas Griffith on a visit Monday, per the league’s transaction wire.
With linebacker Matthew Adams on the injured reserve list and the duo of Darius Leonard and Bobby Okereke dealing with injuries, the Colts are going to be looking at available options in free agency.
Griffith was an undrafted free agent who signed with the 49ers and spent most of the offseason with the team before being waived in August. He’s a strong athlete who ran a 4.62 at his pro day while being listed at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds.
Should Okereke and/or Leonard miss this week’s game against the Browns, they will lean on the likes of Anthony Walker Jr. E.J. Speed and Zaire Franklin.
But it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them bring in Griffith to the practice squad given his athleticism and potential on special teams.
