Colts hope Michael Pittman Jr. returns in Week 3

The Colts are hopeful to see Michael Pittman Jr. return in Week 3.

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping it will be a quick return for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. as they prepare to host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

After popping up on the injury report in Week 2 with a quad injury, Pittman Jr. was ultimately ruled out for the embarrassing against the Jacksonville Jaguars down in Duval County.

In speaking with the media Monday, head coach Frank Reich said he hopes to see the return of Pittman Jr. in Week 3.

“Hoping it’s just a one-game thing. We’ll see. I’ll be open with that stuff as we go. I’m not trying to hide anything there. I hope he’s ready this week, but – he looked like he was in good spirits today,” Reich said Monday. “We have our medical meeting later but I talked to our trainers and I think he made some good progress over the weekend. So, not sure he’ll be ready Wednesday. I think it will be close for Wednesday, but we’ll see.”

The offense certainly missed Pittman Jr.’s presence on the road in Jacksonville. While Ashton Dulin finished with a team-high 79 yards, the rest of the receiver room combined for one reception and 23 yards. It was a disastrous performance, to say the least.

Pittman Jr. is the alpha of the passing game and if the Colts want any chance of keeping up with the Chiefs in Week 3, he has to be available to play.
