Even with two games remaining for the Indianapolis Colts (6-8), there are many already looking forward to the offseason and specifically the 2020 NFL Draft.
With four picks in the first three rounds right now, the Colts have a chance to add some solid talent to the roster. Which direction they go remains to be seen but there is a hope that a new quarterback could be brought in as the potential future.
In Draft Wire’s most recent mock draft following Week 15, the Colts got just that. Here’s a look at the Colts’ selections in the mock:
14. DT Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina
35. QB Jordan Love, Utah State — from WAS
45. WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama
79. CB Deommodore Lenoir, Oregon
Kinlaw is one of the most popular picks for the Colts. Currently at a mid-round value, he has been one of the players being mocked to the Colts so far.
Love would be the exciting draft pick, though. With the struggles of Jacoby Brissett, there is an increasing need to find a future quarterback. Whether the Colts see it that way remains to be seen.
Still, Love has a high ceiling as a quarterback and one that could find success under Frank Reich. He has all of the tools that make him a high-ceiling prospect and one the Colts should target in the draft.
The Alabama wide receiver in Smith is having a strong breakout season. In 12 games, he has 65 receptions for 1200 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s averaging 18.5 yards per catch.
The draft is still months away and the offseason isn’t even here yet, but this would be a solid start to the incoming rookie class.
