Colts GM Chris Ballard calls Jonathan Taylor ‘probably the best back’ in the NFL

NFL and HBO’s midseason Hard Knocks debuted last night with a look at the start of the Indianapolis Colts season.

There is one clear focus for Wisconsin fans in the show: former Badger legend and NFL rushing leader Jonathan Taylor.

While everybody in the state knew his talent level and what he could accomplish in the league, it took some time for the rest of the league to be put on notice. This season? That is exactly what’s happened as Taylor has rushed for 937 yards, 5.8 yards per carry and 9 touchdowns on 161 carries in addition to 29 catches, 303 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown.

Colts General Manager Chris Ballard (a Wisconsin alumn) spoke about Taylor with running backs coach Scottie Montgomery during last night’s episode, calling him ‘probably the best back in the league.’
