As analysts and writers try to predict what the Indianapolis Colts will do this offseason, much of it surrounds the quarterback position and whether they will stick with Jacoby Brissett or make a move elsewhere.
Seeing as the Colts’ brass continues to give the “all options are open” mantra, they have become a potential landing spot for just about every quarterback that might be available.

The latest comes in the form of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles, who has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason. Sportsline released the odds of teams they believe most likely to make a trade for Foles.
The Colts were the odds-on favorites to land the former Super Bowl champion.
If the Jaguars trade Nick Foles, which team will he be playing for Week 1 of the 2020 season?
Colts +300
Bears +500
Patriots +700
Titans +900
Bucs +1200
Eagles +2000https://t.co/oSemzLKeIz pic.twitter.com/8oJ4ryDQuB— SportsLine (@SportsLine) March 4, 2020
These odds aren’t really predicated on any concrete information that the Colts have any interest in trading for Foles. They are simply the best landing spot on the market because of their potential for wanting a new quarterback.
But if the Jaguars are looking to move from Foles already, they would have to trade him rather than cut him. If the Jaguars cut him before June 1, they would owe $33.875 million in dead cap, per Over The Cap. That’s not an option.
So if they truly want to get rid of him trading would be the route they want to take. If they trade him before June 1, the dead money sits at $18.75 million.
The Colts would likely have to eat the contract and give up some draft capital to take on Foles, who hasn’t proven himself to be a reliable starter—even if he did win a Super Bowl with Frank Reich as the offensive coordinator.
But what the Colts would have to give up in return goes against everything Chris Ballard has preached since taking over as general manager. They like to stay flexible with the cap space and accumulate draft capital. Giving up both for a quarterback who has played 19 games over the last four seasons would be completely out of character.
Not to mention, the Jaguars probably aren’t to privy on trading with division rivals.
Still, because the Colts may want to change their quarterback situation, they will remain in the conversation for any quarterback that might become available this offseason.
