This isn’t the first time the Indianapolis Colts and soon-to-be free-agent quarterback Tom Brady have been linked this offseason, and it isn’t going to be the last time.
As the Colts are likely to search for a new quarterback this offseason, there is a chance Brady has played his final snap with the New England Patriots—his contract was void for the 2021 season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
With still a month and a half to go before free agency officially begins, the Colts were given the third-highest odds to sign Brady from Draft Kings.
- New England Patriots: -335
- Los Angeles Chargers: +400
- Indianapolis Colts: +900
- Tennessee Titans: +1600
- Carolina Panthers: +2000
- Cleveland Browns: +2000
- Denver Broncos: +2000
- Las Vegas Raiders: +2000
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +2000
As it has been stated before, it is unlikely the Colts will be pursuing Brady. Sure, he would be a slight upgrade over Jacoby Brissett, but Brady isn’t going to come cheap.
He won’t be paid as the top quarterback in the NFL. Not anymore. But he will still cost a decent amount of money. The Colts could certainly pay that given their immense salary cap space, but paying Brady and Brissett as top-15 quarterbacks simply isn’t logical, especially considering neither of them are playing like that.
Throughout the offseason, there will be plenty of talk about Brady being a potential suitor for the Colts. Given the Colts’ need at the quarterback position, the two are likely to be linked.
But if we have gotten to know Chris Ballard pretty well, he’s unlikely to bring in Brady and would opt to go the younger route through the draft if that’s what they feel like doing this year.
