Indianapolis Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay sent a letter to season-ticket holders and fans Friday discussing changes that will come during the 2020 season.
While it is difficult to know exactly what the season will look like given the pandemic hitting the nation, Irsay and the Colts outlined significant changes to the gameday experience—including reduced stadium capacity.
From the release given by the Colts, here is a list of the expected changes in 2020:
» A modified preseason schedule,
» Reduced stadium capacity that complies with CDC guidelines for social distancing,
» Tarps being placed over the eight rows nearest the field as an increased safety measure for football personnel and fans,
» A food and beverage experience that minimizes person-to-person contact,
» An adjusted game presentation that eliminates non-essential personnel on the playing field, and
» Additional health and safety protocols, including face coverings.
Changes should be expected if we wind up getting a full season of football, which is no guarantee at this point.
Training camp is expected to start on July 28 without fans in attendance and only time will tell how well these changes will work in terms of keeping the league active during the fall.
