The Indianapolis Colts elevated tight end Farrod Green from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Saturday. The active roster is now at 54 players.
Green was one of the first undrafted rookie free agents to sign with the Colts following the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent the entire offseason with the team, including training camp.
He was waived during the roster cuts before Week 1 but was immediately signed to the practice squad where he has been since.
As starter Jack Doyle has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup, the Colts needed some depth. Mo Alie-Cox will be the starter followed by Noah Togiai, who was a waiver claim for the Colts after the initial cutdown day. Togiai was inactive for the Week 1 opener.
During Green’s senior year at Mississippi State, he caught 21 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown.
