The Indianapolis Colts are elevating running back Phillip Lindsay from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday ahead of the Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
With Jonathan Taylor ruled out due to an ankle injury he suffered in Week 4, the Colts are likely heading toward a committee approach against the Broncos. It will be Nyheim Hines on third-down and two-minute work while Lindsay mixes in mostly on early downs.
This is a bit of a revenge game for Lindsay, who spent the first three seasons of his career with the Broncos. He recorded two seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and a Pro Bowl nod during his rookie campaign in 2018.
The Colts will be without their best offensive player on the short week and will look to create his production in the aggregate with Lindsay, Hines and Deon Jackson.
The team also announced defensive tackle Chris Williams would be elevated from the practice squad.
