The Indianapolis Colts designated quarterback Sam Ehlinger to return from the injured list, per the league’s transaction wire.
After spending the required three weeks on the reserve list, Ehlinger now has 21 days to be activated. If he’s not activated before the 21 days is up, he reverts back to the injured reserve list.
Ehlinger was back at practice for the first time on Wednesday so there’s a good chance his activation will come soon.
A sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft, Ehlinger suffered a knee sprain during the team’s preseason finale.
With Jacob Eason on the roster as the backup to Carson Wentz in name only, there’s a chance the depth chart gets a shake-up when Ehlinger is activated. But that’s a bridge we’ll cross when we get to it.
Regardless, Ehlinger is back at practice and will be looking to get activated sometime before the next three weeks is up.
