Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Week 17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Leonard had a crucial strip sack for the Colts during the regular-season finale against the Jaguars that helped set up a touchdown early in the second quarter.
This is the third time Leonard has earned a Player of the Week honor in his career, and he’s the sixth Colts player to earn that honor for the 2020 season. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes (Week 3), cornerback Kenny Moore (Week 14) and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (Week 15) have earned Defensive Player of the Week honors while linebacker E.J. Speed (Week 10) and kicker Rodrigo Blankenship (Week 11) earned Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.
Leonard earned a Pro Bowl nod for the second year in a row. In 14 games, he recorded 132 tackles (86 solo), 7.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.
