Colts’ Carson Wentz in ‘a much better headspace’

Adam Dedeaux of 3DQB says Carson Wentz has been working tirelessly this offseason.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has been working all offseason to reverse the narrative that he’s no longer a viable starter in the league.

From impressing during the spring to working out with his teammates on their own, Wentz has done everything right up to this point. He’s also been getting in crucial work with Adam Dedeaux of 3DQB in hopes of getting his mechanics back in tune.

Dedeaux, who worked with Wentz earlier in his career with the Eagles, has seen a changed player during this offseason.

“(He’s) motivated to change a narrative that has been out there about him and his ability. Mentally, just in a much better headspace.” said Dedeaux in an interview with Zack Hicks of Horseshoe Huddle. “He’s confident in what he’s doing and confident where he is at. He’s in the headspace where he knows there’s no excuses anymore and he is in a place where he can go and succeed now.”

While there were plenty of factors that led to Wentz’s decline and eventual departure from the team that drafted him No. 2 overall in 2016, a lack of sound mechanics was one of the big ones.

Dedeaux told Hicks that he’s never seen Wentz work this tirelessly during an offseason.

“This was by far the most work and the hardest he’s worked with me. He has not backed off one minute.” said Dedeaux. “I’m having to make sure he is getting his breaks and getting his body right. I think he will have the opportunity to operate more efficiently this year.”

Wentz seems to be in the best possible situation for success. He has a play-caller in Frank Reich who believes in him. He has an elite offensive line protecting him, and he has a rushing attack led by Jonathan Taylor that should take some of the attention away from the 28-year-old.

The Colts return for training camp on July 27, and it can’t get here soon enough so we can see just what kind of improvements Wentz has made.
