The Indianapolis Colts will return to the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield for training camp, the team announced Friday.
Though it was expected that the Colts were going to return to their training camp site, it hadn’t yet been announced before Friday. Now that it has, it’s official that the team will be going through a relatively normal training camp.
With the Colts returning to Westfield, this will also resume the ability for fans to be in attendance for training camp, which is one of the main reasons the team conducts their practices off-site.
There was no training camp for fans in 2020 due to COVID-19 protocols. There was barely any training camp for the players. But with vaccinations becoming more prevalent, it seems the league is opening up more and getting back to normal.
It isn’t clear what kind of protocols the Colts will have in place for training camp, but it is expected that the schedule will be announced on Tuesday.
Leading up to their preseason opener, the Colts will be hosting the Carolina Panthers for joint practices at Westfield on Aug. 12 and 13 before the game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Aug. 15.
The full schedule is expected to be released on Tuesday, but this is an encouraging step for things to get back to normal.
