Colts activate S Trevor Denbow from IR

The Colts activated rookie S Trevor Denbow from IR and placed DE Tyquan Lewis on IR.

The Indianapolis Colts activated safety Trevor Denbow from the injured reserve list and placed defensive end Tyquan Lewis on the injured reserve list, the team announced Monday.

Denbow was designated to return last week, meaning the Colts had 21 days since the move was made to either activate him or keep him on the injured reserve list for the remainder of the season.

They obviously don’t have to worry about the latter considering they are activating him.

An undrafted rookie out of SMU, Denbow made a strong impression throughout training camp and the preseason. He was kept on the active roster during final cuts and will likely play a special teams role if he stays on the roster.

Lewis, unfortunately, tore the patellar tendon in his knee on Sunday, which will end his season. It’s the same injury he suffered in 2021 but it happened to the other knee then.

Additionally, the Colts announced that punter Nolan Cooney was released from the practice squad after Matt Haack bounced back in Week 8.
