Colts activate RT Braden Smith from COVID-19 list

Braden Smith is back from the COVID-19 list.

The Indianapolis Colts activated right tackle Braden Smith from the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Wednesday.

This is huge news for Indy, who was without both starting offensive tackles in the Week 16 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Smith’s activation shows he was a close contact rather than a positive test because he was on the list for only five days.

Smith has been enjoying an incredible season at right tackle. Some would even say Pro Bowl worthy. He hasn’t allowed a sack all season and has been a key part in the stellar pass protection the Colts offensive line has shown throughout the campaign.

With Smith back at right tackle, the Colts now only have to worry about their left tackle situation. Anthony Castonzo was inactive due to knee and ankle injuries in Week 16, but they are hoping to see his return in the finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.

Regardless, the Colts get their starting right tackle back just in time for the final playoff push in Week 17.
