The Indianapolis Colts activated running back Jonathan Taylor from the Reserve/PUP list and waived running back Jake Funk, the team announced Saturday.
The highly-anticipated move finally arrived. Despite the lengthy ankle injury and contract dispute, Taylor is back and ready to lead a backfield next to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Taylor practiced in full the entire week and should be seeing a decent workload against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. How heavy that workload will be remains to be seen considering this is his first game action since aggravating the ankle injury in Week 15 of the 2022 season against the Minnesota Vikings.
It’s likely that the team will split the work between Taylor and Zack Moss, who has filled in as the unquestioned starter in Taylor’s absence.
Getting Taylor back into this offense will add a level of explosiveness we haven’t seen yet this season, and it will be interesting to see how he works with the rookie quarterback.
