The Indianapolis Colts activated defensive end Kemoko Turay from the reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) and waived defensive tackle Sheldon Day, the team announced Tuesday.
This is just a formality as Turay was expected to be activated this week. With the activation, Turay seems to be in line to make his debut against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, though it remains to be seen if the Colts will give him a full workload upon return.
The Colts still see the bendy and explosive player that flashed in 2019 before a season-ending ankle injury, which is encouraging for what this front seven can become.
It was a bit of a surprise that Day was waived. However, he hadn’t seen much playing time since returning from the injured reserve list. With Grover Stewart emerging as an elite run defender and Taylor Stallworth outplaying him, Day’s time with the Colts was limited.
The Colts signed Day to a one-year deal in free agency this offseason.
