The Indianapolis Colts announced that cornerback JuJu Brents has been activated off injured reserve and added back to the 53-man roster.
Brents was originally listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, but that designation has now been removed. He will be a available in Week 18 against Jacksonville.
Brents returned to practice prior to the Colts Week 16 game versus the Tennessee Titans and has continued to progress in the right direction. For the second week in a row, Brents was a full participant all three days this week, with head coach Shane Steichen sounding optimistic about Brents returning to the field this week.
Brents sustained the knee injury in the Colts season opener against Houston and has been on injured reserve since.
Unfortunately, Brents has had to navigate several injuries in his short career. In his first two NFL seasons, Brents has appeared in just 10 games.
With Brents having missed extensive time, he likely will be eased back into action on Sunday, rather than given a full workload. In addition to that, with the emergence of Sam Womack and the development of Jaylon Jones, it remains to be seen where those snaps will come from.
However, for the still relatively inexperienced Brents, any sort of playing time can be quite valuable for him.
“Even though we don’t got the hopes of the playoffs right now, it’d still be good for me to go back out there,” said Brents on Friday.
In order to make room for Brents on the 53-man roster, the team waived cornerback Chris Lamont’s as the corresponding move.
