Colt McCoy sent Kyler Murray a Cameo birthday message without knowing

The Arizona Cardinals coaches managed to play a prank on two quarterbacks on Kyler Murray’s birthday.

On Saturday, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray had his 24th birthday. The team had a little surprise for him. He had what head coach Kliff Kingsbury called “surprise birthday well wishes.”

It turns out, in one of the quarterback meetings, a video of a birthday shoutout from teammate and fellow quarterback Colt McCoy through Cameo was shown. Murray shared it on his Instagram stories.

Here’s the thing. McCoy didn’t know it was for Murray. It was a surprise for both of them, which is why in the video he mentions how the message was meant for someone who loves the Texas Longhorns. That’s the joke. Texas is the biggest rival of the Oklahoma Sooners, were Murray went to school.

Kingsbury explained how they were able to get that done.

“Cam Turner, our quarterbacks coach, set that up. He used his mother-in-law’s credit card and some made-up email so it was untraceable,” Kinsgbury explained.

It took extra work to get it done.

“Colt wouldn’t do it, so we had to pay like double the fee to get it accelerated. It was quite a process,” he said.

According to McCoy’s Cameo profile, it normally costs $112 to book him. Clearly, it took more than $200 to get this done.

The kid’s name was supposedly Buddy.

Kingsbury said “it was genius, one of the best ones I’ve ever seen.”

However, “it was hard keeping it to ourselves all week because we knew it was going to happen.”
