Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. has declared for the 2020 NFL draft. The junior wide out announced his decision through Twitter on Tuesday.
Shenault had 56 catches, 764 yards and 4 touchdowns for the Buffaloes in 2019. He first broke out onto the national radar last season when he caught 86 passes for 1,011 yards while tallying 11 all-purpose touchdowns in just 9 games. His performance saw him named a 2018 first-team All Pac-12 member in his first year as a starter. He was a bright spot on a Colorado team that never won more than five games in a season during his tenure.
“At 10 when I lost my father, I didn’t know what was next or what I wanted in life,” Shenault said in his statement. “Once football was introduced to me, a lot of doors opened up. As I got older I understood this was my way out.”
His decision comes as no surprise, as he has been seen by many as one of the best receivers in a class loaded with talent at the position. His 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame and impressive athleticism has piqued the interest of draft analysts and NFL teams alike. His play strength, speed and vision as a ball carrier after the catch project him as a dangerous threat at the next level.
Shenault’s physical tools and upside will likely see him get selected in the first round come April.
