Colorado women’s basketball’s upset bid falls short at TCU

The No. 11 Horned Frogs were too much for the Buffs

The Colorado women’s basketball team (10-3, 1-1 Big 12) made things interesting in the fourth quarter but couldn’t score back-to-back ranked wins as the No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs (14-1, 2-0 Big 12) pulled out a 63-50 home win over the Buffs on Wednesday.

The game was close throughout the first half, with CU holding a one-point lead after one quarter of play. TCU won every quarter after that, although the Buffs showed some fight early in the final period.

The Horned Frogs held a 50-38 lead after the third quarter, but the Buffs scored the first seven points of the fourth to close to within five points. After CU’s surge, TCU reestablished control at Schollmaier Arena to seal the 13-point win.

Center Jade Masogayo led the Buffs with 14 points and was the only CU scorer to hit double digits. Backup guard Kennedy Sanders had a strong game as well, going for eight points off the bench to tie a career-high.

The Horned Frogs were led by their inside-out combo of center Sedona Prince and guard Hailey Van Lith, who each scored 14 points. Prince also chipped in 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Colorado will stay in Texas to complete a two-game road trip, facing the Baylor Bears (11-3, 1-1 Big 12) on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT (ESPN+).
