Colorado women’s basketball to kick off program’s 50th season at Wyoming

Colorado women’s basketball will kick of its 50th season against the Wyoming Cowgirls

The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team will open its 50th season on Monday, traveling to Laramie to take on the Wyoming Cowgirls.

Four of CU’s first six games will be against opponents from the Mountain West Conference, which the Cowgirls finished third in last regular season with an 11-7 record (18-15 overall). Head coach JR Payne and the Buffs will see Boise State, Nevada and Utah State over the next three weeks.

Wyoming was 1-4 last season against power conference opponents, with its lone win coming against a Big 12 foe in BYU.

This season, a vastly different Colorado squad sports 10 new players, half of whom are either freshmen or have not played collegiately due to injury. Frida Formann leads a veteran trio of returning rotation players and is probable to play on Monday despite missing CU’s preseason exhibition against the Colorado School of Mines due to a foot injury.

Tip off from Arena-Auditorium in Laramie is set for 5:30 p.m. MT on Monday
