Colorado women’s basketball to host Denver Pioneers in 2024-25 season

Colorado will be looking for revenge against an in-state foe

While Colorado women’s basketball has yet to announce its finalized 2024-25 nonconference schedule, we learned Monday that the Buffs will host in-state foe Denver.

DU announced its nonconference slate earlier this week and it featured a Dec. 10 trip to the CU Events Center, marking the two teams’ first meeting since 2020-21. During that COVID-shortened season, Colorado visited Denver’s Hamilton Gymnasium on Dec. 8 and lost to the Pioneers, 85-84. All-time, however, the Buffs hold a 9-3 lead in the series.

Last season, head coach Doshia Woods and the Pioneers finished 8-22 (5-11 Summit League).

Colorado, led by longtime head coach JR Payne, will enter this upcoming season with a new-look roster. Notable incoming transfers include JoJo Nworie (Texas Tech), Nyamer Diew (Iowa State), Jade Masagayo (Missouri State), Johanna Teder (Washington State), Lior Garzon (Oklahoma State) and Ayianna Johnson (Minnesota).
