Colorado women’s basketball gets some respect in latest ESPN Bracketology

The Buffs got some love in the latest ESPN Bracketology.

The Pac-12 basketball season has hit somewhat of a pause from the men’s side of things. The Buffs game against Kansas was canceled and several other games have been postponed due to a massive COVID-19 outbreak across the country.

However, the Colorado women’s basketball team is making noise this season. The Buffs are off to an 11-0 start and have been dominant in every game this year.

Of the 11 victories, only one was decided by less than 10 points, and that was the second game of the year at Air Force. Other than that, the Buffs are blowing out opponents, including four straight victories by 20 or more points.

In ESPN’s latest bracketology by Charlie Creme, the Buffs earned a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

If the Buffs find a way in, it would be their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2013, and it would be quite the time in Boulder.

The men’s team started the year as a bubble team according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, although it remains to be seen whether they sneak in or not. If the Buffs can get both basketball teams in, that would be something.

The women’s team starts Pac-12 play on New Year’s Eve against Oregon State but the Buffs are likely eyeing that Jan. 14 game against No. 2 Stanford, which fell in Boulder last season. The Cardinal will be a tough test once again, but there are a lot of reasons to be excited about the CU women’s team this year.
