Colorado State’s Jack Payne is the first 2024 March Madness meme thanks to his glorious mustache

Meet the player with the glorious mustache who lit up the 2024 First Four.

It only took one night of 2024 March Madness — the First Four, which counts! — for us to get a meme on the board.

That would be because Colorado State’s Jack Payne came into the blowout win over Virginia and fans on X (formerly Twitter) loved what they saw: a redshirt freshman who had a glorious mustache, one that we’ll hopefully get to see again when they face the Texas Longhorns in the first round on Thursday.

There was a lot of commentary and at least one comparison to the famed Tom DeLonge “WTF?” GIF from Blink-182’s First Date video.
