This is not good news for USC, because it’s never good news when a terrific athlete gets injured. It’s even worse when that athlete gets injured due to a dirty play by an opponent. This news nevertheless reshapes the reality surrounding USC’s visit to Boulder on September 30 for a date with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Travis Hunter, the cornerback-receiver two-way player who has helped transform Colorado on the field this season, is expected to miss multiple weeks of action. This is due to the injury he suffered as a result of an excessive hit which was penalized 15 yards in Colorado’s win over Colorado State on Saturday.
“’The first thing I heard is that he would be out for a few weeks,’ (Colorado coach Deion) Sanders said in his postgame press conference. ‘I heard that for sure. But we will do what we must to take care of him. I know Travis probably will want to be out for two weeks. But we got to make sure he is OK. His health is more important than this game.’”
Buffaloes Wire also covered the specific hit which knocked Hunter out of the game:
“The entire game had plenty of antics, and it began earlier in the week with Norvell’s sunglasses comment toward Deion Sanders, which brought a response from Coach Prime.
“After the hit by Blackburn, things escalated, and CU quarterback Shedeur Sanders immediately approached Blackburn and got in his face in anger.”
