Colorado promotes Michael Pollock to coach special teams units

The Buffs have decided to promote from within

After two seasons as a quality control analyst on head coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado football staff, Michael Pollock has been promoted to oversee the Buffs’ special teams units.

Pollock was introduced as Colorado’s new special teams coach in a Thee Pregame Show YouTube video.

While speaking with CU’s primary special teamers, including placekicker Alejandro Mata, Pollock spoke on his expectations for the upcoming season. The former Georgia Bulldogs long snapper was especially adamant that Colorado needs to produce more touchbacks on kickoffs:

“I thought last year because of (short kickoffs), we spent way too much time having to work on kickoffs,” Pollock told Colorado’s special teams room. “We’re gonna make it easy this year. Kick it out of the back of the end zone, line up from the 25 and let’s go.”

Before coming to Colorado, Pollock worked on head coach Deion Sanders’ staff at Jackson State from 2021-22, holding various roles.

This past season, Colorado’s special teams units were led by Tommie Robinson.
