Colorado defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo declares for NFL draft

“Block Bully” is looking to get drafted

The NFL hasn’t taken many Colorado Buffaloes in recent drafts, but that’s set to change this April as a wave of talent from Boulder is ready to make an impact at the next level. On Sunday, defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo became the latest Buff to declare for the 2025 NFL draft.

Nwankwo began his college career with the Houston Cougars as a high school signee in the class of 2020. In four seasons with Houston, he played in 40 games, racking up 94 tackles, 13 TFLs and four sacks. In December 2023, Nwanwko transferred to Colorado, giving the Buffs a run-stuffing presence they desperately needed after head coach Deion Sanders’ first year at CU.

Nwankwo played in 11 games with the Buffs and recorded 32 total tackles, five TFLs and 2.5 sacks. Powerfully built at 5-foot-11 and 290 pounds, Nwankwo’s game is built on strength and his ability to occupy multiple blockers in the middle of the line.

He’ll likely be an early-down player at the beginning of his NFL career while he continues to hone his pass-rushing skills. I see Nwankwo as a late-round draft pick who could become a prized undrafted free agent if he isn’t selected.
