The Colorado Buffaloes made the best hire of the college football offseason, Deion Sanders. Coach Prime instantly changed the culture of the program in Boulder, and the hype and excitement were evident during the spring game last weekend.
Colorado chancellor Phil DiStefano answered a series of questions, and he mentioned a few of the reasons the school hired Coach Prime (h/t Brent Schrotenboer of USA TODAY Sports):
“We brought him in to change the program, to win, to win championships,” DiStefano said. “The way I looked at it was as long we were doing it the right way and we had this new transfer rule that everyone was following, that we weren’t cutting edges — that’s why we hired him.”
It sure has worked already. Sanders has brought in highly ranked transfers, recruits and a star-studded coaching staff in a matter of months.
The spring game was sold out and televised on ESPN, and the Buffs have already sold out of season tickets with the season months away.
It’s unreal to see the transformation, but this is exactly what they had in mind.
